Cincinnati Skyline Chili
My name is Loren Combs and I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1949, the well-known Cincinnati Skyline Chili was originated. I was born in Cincinnati and Skyline Chili has always been a part of my life. At Skyline there are a variety of meals like the original cheese conies, spaghetti (3-way, 4-way, however you like it), salads, etc. Like many restaurants, you can get it to go or sit-in and eat, but one advantage that my family takes for granted is Skyline Chili is available at stores. This makes it possible to make your own Skyline at home.
My household tends to buy more Skyline more often from Kroger (our standard grocery store). My family and I make our own right at home, which is nice because we are able to be in the comfort of our own home. At home I’m able to make the “original” conies or spaghetti that I love so much. Sometimes I just like a good old Skyline snack that’s fast and easy to make. These consist of being Skyline dip, chili cheese fries or Skyline Fritos. Skyline dip is a very common party snack, but is nice for an individual snack. Skyline dip is cream cheese spread evenly on the bottom of a deep-dish plate then pour a can of Skyline chili on top of the cream cheese and top it off with some shredded, cheddar cheese. When that’s done, place the dish in the microwave until warm or cheese is melted. Then enjoy with some crunchy, Tostito chips. All my friends love Skyline dip. Normally, it lasts maybe, MAYBE five minutes, so if you want any, you have to get it while it’s hot. For some delicious Skyline chili cheese fries, first bake Tyson or whatever preferred kind of French fries in the oven. Once they’re fully baked, prepare the can of Skyline. Pour the chili on the French fries and sprinkle some cheddar cheese on top. Lastly, another tasty Skyline snack are the Skyline Fritos. This is my “go-to” comfort snack at home. It’s similar to Skyline dip. First, microwave some Skyline chili in a bowl, sprinkle some cheddar cheese and by using Frito scoops, enjoy eating the chili.
These are some fast and easy ways to enjoy Skyline chili without having to leave the house. Growing up in Cincinnati, my whole life I never knew it would become known for a brand restaurant. Cincinnati Skyline chili is now expanding and appearing in other cities and states. I’m glad to be from and still live in a city known for such an amazing food.
